Statement Against the Bombing of Churches in Lahore

Dated: March 18, 2015

In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Beneficent.

WABIL utterly condemns the appalling twin bomb blast on a Protestant and a Catholic church in Lahore, Pakistan, during Sunday services on 15th March. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families of the 14 killed and 80 injured.

We call upon community leaders to condemn this heinous cowardly attack and urge the government of Pakistan to the bring the perpetrators, Jamaat al-Ahrar, a faction of the Taliban, to account.
The Christians of Pakistan are an unprotected minority whose people, faith, and property are simply not honoured and protected enough. We stand together with the Pakistani Christian community, shoulder to shoulder in their grief, and urge the Government and UN human rights bodies, to take appropriate and wise action against the lawlessness in Pakistan.
We offer prayers for world peace and justice. The cancer of extremism that is sweeping across the world and sullying the name of Islam, must be stopped. These actions are not from the followers of the Prophet and His Family, peace be upon them.
