Question ID 409 - Interaction in Social Life - 2013-04-09 19:45:03 |
Salam Alaikum
I am in India ( country with Hindu majority )
My employer has assigned me work in a muslim area where I need support and co-operation from local public.
As in India 97 out of 100 muslims are ahle sunnath so any muslim is by default believed to be a sunni untill he introduces himself as shia.
My issue is that I dont want to disclose my identity as a shia so that it will help me in my work.
There is no shia masjid in area so I am facing problem with my hads position while Qayaaam, timings of Salaat and timings of iftaar in month of Ramadhaan.
please help me how to handle the situation.
Thanks

Answer:- Shia is India are between 20 to 25% of the whole Muslim population, and not 3% as you were been wrongly informed.
Many Sunnis don't fold their hands in Namaz, like Maliki Sunni Muslims , so, your keeping your hands open should not harm you. In case you find it dangerous or harmful to you to practice Shia jurisprudence , then Taqiyyah is only allowed in such cases. Same is with the Iftaar situation, means if you can not wait till real Maghrib, because of danger or harm , then Taqiyyah is allowed for you.
Wassalam.
