Question ID 2055 Sunday 9th of November 2014

Question:

ASA WR WB, I would like to know that there hadiths showing that charity should be done secretly and nothing wrong doing openly but benefits are reduced. But in some countries government have lots of queries of disclosure and in some organisations there is so much hidden business going and and cheating and double money asking and etc going and when we tell the charity that they should disclose to avoid all this they say there hadiths showing that we should not disclose so how can we answer these people. Please include some hadith if possible. Thank you

Answer:

Hiding the charity is mentioned in many Hadeeths e.g.( A man who gives
charity secretly will be under the shadow of Allah when there will be no
shadow but only Allah's).
This is to avoid satanic show which some people do to misuse the charity to
get worldly name or benefits.
This is not the only way to give charity, as declared charity is also
mentioned in Quran after the secret charity
31] 31 Sura Ebrahim
If declaring the charity is required to encourage people to give to
charity, or to stop corruption or for clear accounts or any valid reason,
then it can be declared.
