Question ID  537  -  Fasting (Sawm)
salaam u alaikum, i have a slight dilemma, i want to keep the mustahab fasts of shabaan, however i have heard that one cant keep mustahab if one has missed some wajib fasts in the past, i am 20 of age and i dont know how many i have missed, what do i do in this situation ? do i just keep them all as qaza or are they forgiven as i dont know if i have any ?
Answer:-  If you do not know how many days of fast you have missed, you must keep the minimum number of days about which you are sure, and any more days of possible missed fasts, you may keep Qaza fast with the intention of Amma Fiththimmah عمّا في الذمّة
Qaza fast is greater in reward than recommended fast, and fasting the Qaza during the month of Sha'ban makes you get the great reward of Qaza as well as the fast in Sha'ban.

Question ID  523  -  Fasting (Sawm)
Salam alaikum Can you please tell me how many minutes before sunrise should we stop eating? and also how many minutes after sunset should we start eating.I am very confused because some people wait 5min 10 min and we have been told to wait 20 min so which one is right. Thank you
Answer:-  We must stop eating and drinking before Fajr time, and as it is difficult to know now a days the exact time of Fajr, it is a precaution to stop few minutes before the time which is published just to be on the safe side. If you know for sure the exact time of Fajr, you can eat till one minute before the exact time of Fajr.
Breaking fast is when the night starts as we read in Quran ( then complete the fast till night). The night starts after the reddish ness of the light on the east vanishes. It vanishes between 8 to 15 minutes after sunset.

Question ID  502  -  Fasting (Sawm)
Salaam. I have got 7 more Kaza fasts to keep before this year's Ramadhan. I had every intention of keeping them. However, whenever I have kept one - it has left me very ill the next day to the point where I have been unable to go to work or do household duties. I have also recently found out that I am pregnant. This may be why fasting in these long days was leaving me unwell. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you
Answer:-  If your health does not allow you to keep the remaining Qaza fasts, then giv=
e food for poor persons ( one poor person per day of fast), and keep the Qaz=
a fast later when you are able.
