Condemnation of Tehran Terror Attacks

Dated: June 8, 2017

World Ahlul Bayt Islamic League (WABIL) condemns the deadly twin attack on citizens in Tehran at the Parliament and Ayatullah Khomeini's shrine, where 17 have lost their lives and over 50 are injured. Chapter 5 verse 32 of the Quran states that, "whoever slays an innocent soul,  it is as though he slew all mankind; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all mankind." These despicable terrorists are far removed from humanity and God's order of peace for the world. WABIL offers its condolences to the Iranian Leader and the nation.

The Tehran attack was a direct hit at the parliamentary process of a sovereign nation. The second attack on the shrine of Ayatullah Khomeini was another example of the hatred that this lawless group has towards Shia Muslims.

Once again we reiterate that the root cause of these terrorists, which lies in Salafi  Saudi Wahhabi thought funded by the despotic Gulf countries, must be eradicated.  On several occasions before the attacks the Saudi Foreign Minister stated on social media that Iran would be "punished" for funding terrorism. President Trump's appalling response also blamed Iran for the attack. If anything the attacks have proved that Iran and all Shias are the victims of Wahabi extremism and that the corrupt Saudi state is funding these acts of terror.  The global community must hold both terrorists  and their funders to account.

The wider Muslim community must do more to condemn and root out extremist wahabi ideology rooted in Ibn Taymiyya's extremist salafi thought.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Iran, and all those affected by the attacks.
