Statement Against The Killing of Ethiopian Christians by ISIS in Libya
Dated: May 1, 2015
WABIL STATEMENT AGAINST THE KILLING OF ETHIOPIANS IN LIBYA
In the Name of Allah the Most Merciful the Most Beneficent.
Indeed we are from Allah and to Him we return.
World Ahlul-Bayt (as) Islamic League extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the 30 Ethiopian Christians who were kidnapped by the self-proclaimed Islamic State in Libya and executed, according to ISIS's video released on Sunday 19th April. Amongst those killed was also a Muslim who refused to abandon his Christian countrymen. WABIL salutes the bravery and sacrifice of this martyr. Our condolences to all peace-loving Ethiopians at this difficult time.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn announced that the country will fight against terrorism with whatever it takes and that terrorist acts, whether committed by ISIS or Al-Shabaab, should be repelled by all peace-loving people and governments. We stand by his words and with the Ethiopian nation in its hour of pain, and we urge the government of Libya to take decisive action to bring the murderous perpetrators to justice.
Peace-loving Muslims have a special bond with the Ethiopian Christians: indeed the first migration of Muslims persecuted by the pagan Arabs were given refuge by Ethiopia in the Prophet Muhammad's lifetime. (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). That act of kindness has never been forgotten by us. It makes this heinous crime by violent cowardly criminals using the good name of Islam, even more unbearable.
We comfort the families of those killed, and reassure them that their blood has not been shed in vain.
We call upon peace-keeping international bodies to eradicate the murderous group ISIS and to hold to account all those funding, arming, and supporting these criminals.
