Condemnation of Suicide Attack on Shia Mosque in al-Ahsa, Eastern Arabia
Dated: January 29, 2016
World AhlulBayt Islamic League (WABIL) stongly condemns the barbaric suicide attack on Imam Rida Shia mosque in Mahasen neighbourhood of al-Ahsa, Eastern Arabia, as confirmed by the Interior Ministry. Four people have been killed and at least seven injured. WABIL offers its condolences to the injured victims and the families of those martyred.
Once again, the cowardly terrorists have struck during Friday prayers, when those devoted to prayer and worship were peacefully submitting to God. When security men stopped the terrorists, one blew himself up at the entrance of the mosque and there was an exchange of fire with the other followed by his arrest.
We strongly condemn this crime against innocent God-conscious people who are targeted just because of their faith.
WABIL holds the Saudi authorities responsible for this attack because of their persistent failure to protect its citizens. Not only does the government actively discriminate against its Shia nationals, but it also leaves them vulnerable to such attacks from other extreme elements.
We also condemn the silence of Muslim countries and organizations. Despite the continued genocide of Shias sweeping across the Muslim world, the nations are pitifully silent. Such lack of condemnation is nothing but tacit acceptance of the oppression.
We urge the international political and human rights communities to condemn this attack, and urge the Saudi authorities to take action against the perpetrators and to provide full security to their Shia citizens.
