We come from God and to Him we return

It is with sadness that World Ahlul Bayt Islamic League (WABIL) has learned of the passing away of the learned scholar (Khateeb e Akbar) of Lucknow, India, Maulana Mirza Mohammed Athar sahab. WABIL condoles his family, the people of his city Lucknow (India) and the Shias of South Asia.

Mirza Athar sahab tirelessly served Islam, regardless of his later failing health, and regardless of social or political pressures. His aim was to spread the message of true Islam of the Prophet (saaw) and his Holy Progeny (as) and to debunk the propaganda of misleading extremist groups. This he did eloquently for over six decades. His passion on the pulpit, his knowledge and his oratory were unmatched.

Mirza Athar sahab will be sorely missed. We pray that he attains a high status in Jannah. May Allah (swt) grant solace to his bereaved family.
