Death Anniversary of Lady Khadijah (A.S)
Dated: June 28, 2015
On the 10th of Ramadhan, we commemorate the death anniversary Lady Khadijah, the first and most beloved wife of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny.
Lady Khadijah, peace be upon her, has been described by God the Almighty as one of the four most chosen women by God - Mary mother of Jesus, Asiya wife of the Pharaoh, Khadijah the wife of the Prophet, and Fatima the daughter of the Prophet and Khadijah. She was a most loyal devoted wife and believer. Indeed Khadijah was one of the richest Makkans of her time, but used the entire wealth of her business empire to fund the cause of Islam. She saved Islam with her wealth when others turned their backs on the Prophet.
Lady Khadijah passed away in Makkah in 619 CE, three years before the migration to Madinah and was laid to rest in Jannatul Mualla in Makkah. The death of Lady Khadijah was a most tragic time for the Prophet, for he lost one of his main pillars of love, comfort and support. Sadly, Lady Khaidjah and the Prophet were reduced to a state of poverty at the time of her death for she selflessly sacrificed everything for the faith.
The Prophet stated that had it not been for the protection of his uncle Abu Talib and the wealth of Lady Khadijah, Islam would have suffered tremendously. Khadijah is a shining role model for women, for she was an enlightened successful woman, and she is an excellent role model for men, for she taught them how to serve Islam. However it is tragic that her grave was destroyed by the Wahabi Saudi authorities, thus dishonouring the Prophet’s beloved wife.
WABIL offers its deepest condolences to to the Holy Prophet Mohammad, his progeny, the Imam of our time (Allah's blessings on them all), and all believers on Lady Khadijah's death anniversary. We ask all Muslims to recognise her divinely given status and to accord her the due respect she deserves by following her life example.
