Condemnation of ISIS attack on Brussels

Dated: March 22, 2016

World Ahlul Bayt Islamic League (WABIL) utterly condemns the attacks on Brussels' Zaventem airport and the Maelbeek metro link, killing over 30 people and injuring over 200. These demonic barbaric attacks on civilians are intolerable.  WABIL offers its condolences to the Belgian prime minister Charles Michel and the Belgian nation, especially the families of those killed, and gives its support and sympathy to the injured.

The terrorist illegitimate so-called Islamic State has claimed responsibility and openly declared its enmity with the whole of humanity.  Whilst up to now the Shias and other minorities have suffered the brunt of ISIS brutality,  now their terror is threatening to wreak havoc across Europe.  WABIL has always maintained that the real culprits are those funding, arming and training ISIS's reign of terror.  More than ever before we reiterate this point.

WABIL advises  that all communities across Europe stand united in the  fight against ISIS brutality. The role of religious leaders especially from the peace-loving anti-extremist groups is central to this. Europe must not make the mistake of blaming Muslims or Islam for the criminality of these thugs who have no connection with the Islam of the Holy Prophet and his Progeny (peace be upone them all).

We urge the Belgian government to act promptly in capturing the one escaped terrorist.  WABIL specifically offers its services in dialogue and strategies against extremism. We pray for justice for all victims of aggression and terror.
