Question:
Salams. I pay my khums every year on the 1st of Muharram. I follow Ay. Syed Sistani Last year my net savings were £4,702.5 on which I paid £940.5 khums. Thus my halal savings were £3762. So this muharram when I am calculating my khums do I exclude £3762 from my net savings and then calculate khums or should I include it in this year and then calculate 20% of the total net savings Shukran
Answer:
The net savings out of which you have already paid Khums, are excluded from
Khums of this year. Just calculate what you have saved from new income of
this year and pay Khums out of it.

Question:
Since 2010 if the Khums calculation done is incorrect i.e. sometimes paid more and sometimes less what should be done? if the difference (more minus less) is calculated and paid will it suffice.
Answer:
The error is calculation must be rectified and Khums must be paid properly.

Janab Aga Moosavi Shaheb Asssalam O Alaikum With due Respect I am following Sistani Saheb. My Khums date is 1 Sep. every month i am making provision of my liability. Eg 1: I am paying monthly instalment for the loan i hv taken. Instalment is debited on 27 of every month and my Khums date is 1 Sep. Will there be Khums on it? Eg 2: I have taken some LIC policy in India and have to pay Premium quarterly. For me to pay quarterly i have to make provision monthly. My payment due was in 10 Sep and Khums date is 1 Sep. Will there be Khums on it? Eg 3: Similarly other cash provisions are made to meet the expenses after the Khums date. Will there be Khums on it? Was Salams Sayed Husain Mahdi

A. Every amount remains with you on your day of Khums Must be calculated
for Khums purpose. You can pay the installment before the date of your
Khums if you wish.

A2. The premium of previous months can be excluded andbyoubcan also pay
before your date of Khums.

Salam I am doing taqlid of Syed Sistani. Every month I give a certain amount of money to my mother for her own personal expenses. Do I need to pay khums on this money I give her before I give it to her? or does she need to pay khums if any is remaining after her personal expenses? ws Jawad
Answer:
You do not need to pay Khums on that amount because it is part of your
expenses, but she needs to pay Khums on any remaining amount (if any) on
her date of Khums or one year after receiving the amount.

Salaam. I am a university student. I have received a student finance loan to cover the costs for my three year course. Therefore, will khums be applicable to this student loan. If so, will khums also be applicable on a scholarship given to me by my university also?
Answer:
These amounts are included in your income, and you should calculate what
remains on your date of Khums and apply Khums on that remaining amount.
