Salam Why did Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and his progeny ask for forgiveness if He is infallible?
 
Answer:-  The infallible seeking forgiveness does not mean at all that he has committed any sinful act. The infallible always feels that what ever good deeds he does, the greatness of Allah (SWT) is much more and Allah (SWT) deserves more worship, that’s why the infallible seeks from Almighty Allah (SWT) his mercy and knows that no worship whatsoever can be equal to the greatness of Allah (SWT).

The infallible teaches us how to seek forgiveness by showing us the way and the wordings which can help us in seeking forgiveness for our own sinful acts.
