Question ID 2007 Monday 20th of October 2014

Question:

**
Salams. I pay my khums every year on the 1st of Muharram.
I follow Ay. Syed Sistani
Last year my net savings were £4,702.5 on which I paid £940.5 khums.
Thus my halal savings were £3762. So this muharram when I am calculating my khums do I exclude £3762 from my net savings and then calculate khums or should I include it in this year and then calculate 20% of the total net savings
Shukran**

Answer:

**The net savings out of which you have already paid Khums, are excluded from
Khums of this year. Just calculate what you have saved from new income of
this year and pay Khums out of it.
