as salam maulana, want to ask you that i have jawellery which i got as gift atthe time of my wedding from my parents as well as my inlaws. after two years of my marriage my husband fell ill and became paralysed and after that he could not work and we are dependent on my in laws for the monthly expenses,,now i want to know that r v supposed to pay zakat on the jewellry which is kept in the locker beacause we have no savings from the monthly expenses,,but i try to give khums evry year.please guide me on this matter soon .

No zakat on jewelry.

Mujtahid: Aqa e Sistani What is ruling of Khums on Life Insurance premiums that is paid on yearly basis ? Do we have to pay khums on the selected date for given yearly premiums ? (When taking Life Insurance the neyat is for Investment purpose, but of course that investment give good returns after 10,15 or 20 years) Wassalam,
Answer:
It is an investment so you must calculate the amount you paid in your Khums.

It is compulsory to pay Khums on every investment including life insurance premium.

Question: Mujtahid: Aqa e Sistani Topic: Khums on BC Question: My khums date this year is 1st Ramazan (28 May 2017). I have put 2 BC of Rs 5000 each for duration of 1 year. One BC (Rs 50,000)i get before 1st Ramazan (March 2017) and is fully utilized before my khums date that is 1st Ramzan (May 2017). Other one BC i get after 1st Ramzan that is in (October 2017). So how will khums work on this condition ? Do i have to pay khums on submitted amount till 1st Ramzan on my second BC (October 2017) that is 5000x5=25000 ? or Since i have no money in hand for my second BC on khums date so there will be no khums? please advise
Answer:
On your date of Khums, every amount which you own must be calculated whether the amount is in your hand on in the bank or with others as far as you have not lost it.
