Question:

FOR PAST 6 YEAR I AM SUFFERING FROM A KIDNEY STONE AND HAD A SURGERY THREE TIME IN PAST 6 YEARS AND AGAIN THIS YEAR2015 I HAD A STONES IN MY KIDNEYS AND DOCTOR HAD ADVICED ME TO DRINK 5 LITRES OF WATER EVERYDAY . SO IN Ramadhan IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ME TO KEEP FAST OR NOT ?AND IF NOT WHAT WILL BE THE ALTERNATIVE THING CAN I DO ON BEHALF OF FAST ? PLEASE GIVE YOUR SUGGESTION AS I HAD SUFFERED ALOT BECAUSE OF KIDNEY STONE

Answer:

If your health does not allow you to fast, then fasting is not obligatory
on you. In case you are able to fast later on as Qadha for the fasts which
you could not make, then you must fast as Qadha, but if you are unable for
the same reason of health to fast Qadha, then you must feed one poor person
for every day of fast which you could not make due to health reasons. This
is called Fidyah.

Question:

Dear Syed Asalamulaykum Hope this receives you in good spirit and health. I think I already posted my question before but did not leave a contact email. Therefore do not know if this was already answered, apologies. My question was that if a person commits a sin during fasting by watching pornographic material and had no intention of ejaculating but this occurred. Is there Kaffarah Jum on this act? Even if the person doubts whether he is janub. Forgive me for asking such question based on a sinful act but I have to clear my ignorance on this issue. Walaykumsalam

Answer:

If he doubts whether he ejaculated or not, then he is not Mujnib.
If the ejaculation was not intended and it happened unintentionally, Qadha
is must with out Kaffara.

Question ID 1789 Tuesday 29th of July 2014

Question:

Dear Sayyid I am a shia convert and I do taqleed of sayyid sistani. I've been in a situation whereby my family I live with (parents) are Sunni. My parents followed the Saudi announcement of Eid being on 28th July, I wasn't sure myself when eid was and to also avoid disheartening my parents of fasting on eid day I also did not fast and celebrated eid with them. I am really worried now, can you advise me if I have committed a sin and if I have to compensate for missing a potential fast?

Answer:

If you broke your fast to avoid harm, that is Taqiyyah, and it is allowed,
but you need to keep Qadha of that day of fast later on.
