Question ID  523  -  Fasting (Sawm) -  2013-06-10 09:30:01
Salam alaikum Can you please tell me how many minutes before sunrise should we stop eating? and also how many minutes after sunset should we start eating.I am very confused because some people wait 5min 10 min and we have been told to wait 20 min so which one is right. Thank you

Answer:-  We must stop eating and drinking before Fajr time, and as it is difficult to know now a days the exact time of Fajr, it is a precaution to stop few minutes before the time which is published just to be on the safe side. If you know for sure the exact time of Fajr, you can eat till one minute before the exact time of Fajr.
Breaking fast is when the night starts as we read in Quran ( then complete the fast till night). The night starts after the reddish ness of the light on the east vanishes. It vanishes between 8 to 15 minutes after sunset.

Question ID  502  -  Fasting (Sawm) -  2013-05-29 00:45:02
Salaam. I have got 7 more Kaza fasts to keep before this year's Ramadhan. I had every intention of keeping them. However, whenever I have kept one - it has left me very ill the next day to the point where I have been unable to go to work or do household duties. I have also recently found out that I am pregnant. This may be why fasting in these long days was leaving me unwell. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you

Answer:-  If your health does not allow you to keep the remaining Qaza fasts, then giv=
e food for poor persons ( one poor person per day of fast), and keep the Qaz=
a fast later when you are able.

Asalamunalikum syed. Hope you're in good health. I am 12 weeks pregnant and Ramadan is approaching. What are my obligation as the fast will last for 15 to 18 hours. Should I fast or am I exempt from fasting or can I complete my fast after pregnancy? Wsalaam

Answer:-  It depends on your health situation, as if your health allows you to fast with out harm on you or the child, you must then fast , but if fasting harms you or the child , then do not fast but , you must keep Qaza fast later on.

Question ID  469  -  Fasting (Sawm) -  2013-07-29 04:15:02
Is it obligatory to come out and pray during de last ten days of ramadan?please

Answer:-  Daily Prayers are obligatory every day and not only during the last ten days of the Month of Ramadhan. The last ten nights of the month of Ramadhan have great importance because Lailatul Qadr is among these nights ( 21st or 23rd night) which is greater than one thousand months. Worshipping Allah (SWT) during Lailatul Qadr is better than worshipping of one thousand months.
