Question:

Salaam Alaikum Maulana Musawi We pray for your good health and tawfiq to enlighten the muslim community and be rewarded by Allah swt..Ameen. I wish to know what is best advise when making graves with a headstone and surrounding boundary with marble stone -Is it better to cover the top with a concrete slab and place gravel on it or is it better to leave the top open with grass/flowers growing? [Both these types are currently done in the Graveyards] please advise Ahsant and Jazzakallah khair inshallah

Answer:

The grave must be safe from animals which may dig or make holes in it. That
is why covering the grave with any solid material is important. Growing
flowers on the grave has no value at all as it does not give the deceased
any benefit.

Question ID 1289 Friday 11th of April 2014

Question:

Salam Alaikum Sayed Musawi A few months ago i assisted in giving Ghusal and Kafan to a momeema. Her daughter now rang me and told me that she wants to give me a gift and i have refused it because to the best of my knowledge we shouldn't take anything for that.Am i doing the right thing? Jazakallah

Answer:

Giving Ghusl to Muslim dead is obligatory and no money should be taken for
it because it is a religious duty, but if she wants to give you a gift,
there is no harm in accepting the gift although if you do not accept the
gift, there is no wrong in that as well. It is for you to decide.
In general we do not encourage such gift because it might create an
impression of remuneration which is not allowed.

Question ID 1286 Friday 11th of April 2014

Question:

Salam alaikum Sayed musawi If a person dies and the burial is only possible after a few days is it compulsary to give the body ghusal and kafan immdiately or is it better to wait till the day of the burial since there might be a problem and then we might have to give the ghusal and kafan again. Jazakallah

Answer:

Ghusl and Kafan are obligatory for every Muslim who dies, on those who know
about the death and are able to perform Ghusl and Kafan for him. The time
of Ghusl is any time before burial.
It is better to perform Ghusl and Kafan before burial and not long time
before that as there is a possibility of the Kafan becoming Najis, then it
will be compulsory to make it Taahir before burial.

Question:

my father had not read any namaz or kept any roza in his full life he expired on 3rd dec 2013 in house he was 65 years of age ... so can i and some people read his qaza namaz and how much to read pls help

Answer:

All the Namaz and fasting that he missed in his life is to be performed on
his behalf as Qaza. If he has left any wealth, you must take from his

you and your family may perform Qaza on his behalf to save him from sever
