Question ID  1505  -  Fasting (Sawm) -  2014-06-18 08:00:01
Whenever I do a mustahab fast, my wife offers me food to break the fast way before time like after zuhr. And I normally break the fast as she is a momina. Is it right? Wife knows that I am fasting and even then she offers me food. Sometimes it makes me think that we are playing with the system. Please guide us in this matter. Jazakallah.

Answer:-  Yes it is right to accept the invitation of your wife as a Momina and break
your fast any time during the day, even after Zuhr. You will be then
getting two rewards, first of the fasting which you intended and started,
second the reward of accepting the invitation of a Momin.
This is a gift from Allah (SWT) and not playing with the system.

While wajib fasting my lips become very dry so I rotate my tongue around my lips my question is since my tongue is wet and is out of my mouth to rotate around the lips is it necessary to spit out the saliva which was in my tongue since it has come out of my mouth?

Answer:-  If your tongue gets any material from the outside of your lips, you must
spit out that material and not to swallow it while fasting, but if your
tongue does not get any material from the outer side of your lips, then no
need to spit out.

Dear Sayed Salaam Alaykum. I pray this email reaches you in the best of health. I have a question regarding my wife, She was pregnant last Ramadhan and fasted only 10 fasts due to complications. However My daughter was born in October and because of many complications my wife still has not recovered and she is low in iron and has disorder of the blood and is taking pills regularly as well as feeding she is very tired. We are concerned she has to pay back her fasts and I am worried what do we need to do if she is not able to pay back the missed fasts? With salaams Hassan

Answer:-  She should feed one poor person for every day of Qaza fast which she could
not make due to illness. She should fast the Qaza when she is able.
Wassalam.

Question ID  1200  -  Fasting (Sawm) -  2014-03-06 11:00:01
Assalam Alaikum Sayyed. My mother heard you answer a question regarding Qaza fasts on Ahlulbayt tv. Apparently, you said you can make Qaza fasts up by fasting only to Zuhr time. Please can you clarify this and upto what time exactly. Jazak Allah for your time and efforts

Answer:-  I did not say that at all and there is a misunderstang here. The question
was about breaking the fast during the day which means invalidating the
fast and making it void. If the fast is recommended, it can be made void
any time, but if it was a Qaza fast, it can be made void any time before
Zuhr, but it is not allowed to make void after Zuhr and making it void
after Zuhr is a sinful act and it has a Kaffara of feeding or clothing ten
poor persons, and if not able, then fasting three days.
Valid Fast must be completed from before Fajr till Maghrib.
Wassalam.
